These terms govern the painting and decorating services we provide under the trading name Berkshire Surrey Painters & Decorators ("we", "us", "our"). By accepting our written quote you agree to be bound by them.
All quotes are issued in writing and remain valid for 30 days from the date of issue. Prices assume the site condition observed at survey. Material differences (undisclosed damp, lead paint, asbestos, structural cracking) will be flagged and re-quoted before work begins.
For projects over £1,500 we typically request a 25% materials deposit on booking, with the balance invoiced on completion. Payment terms are 7 days from invoice unless otherwise agreed. Late payments accrue statutory interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
Start dates are confirmed in writing once the deposit is received. You agree to provide safe, uninterrupted access during agreed working hours and to remove or protect items not covered by our standard dust-sheeting.
Unless otherwise quoted, we supply trade-grade products from Dulux Trade, Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and Crown Trade. Colour samples are recommended before committing, we cannot be responsible for shade preferences expressed after the work is complete.
Changes to the agreed scope (added rooms, additional coats, specification changes) will be confirmed in writing and added to the final invoice. We will not undertake material variations on a verbal request alone.
We guarantee our workmanship for five years from the date of completion. The guarantee covers failure of the finish caused by defective preparation or application. It does not cover damage caused by movement, damp, abuse, third-party works, or normal wear and tear.
We carry £5,000,000 public liability insurance. Our total liability for any one project is limited to the value of that project, except where liability cannot be limited by law (death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation).
You may cancel up to 14 days before the agreed start date with a full refund of any deposit paid. Cancellations within 14 days may incur a charge for materials already ordered and crew time reserved.
We work to current HSE guidance for painting and decorating, including safe use of access equipment, COSHH-assessed materials, and dust-control practices. You agree to inform us of any site-specific hazards (asbestos, lead, electrical faults) before work begins.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
